Google goes down for 5 minutes – Internet Traffic falls to 30%

Google goes down for 5 minutes

Google Services including Google Search suffered an outage early Saturday morning. It was about 5 mins & Web traffic crashed by 30% has said by Internet experts. 90% of the Google services are disrupted. All the Google product pages and search pages showed 502 error. People started discussing on twitter for hours. Twitter traffic was doubled at that particular time. I wonder most of the people would have checked their wifi connections before realizing Google was down.

Around one hour later, GoSquared, a web analytics firm, said that it noticed a 40% dip in the page views. Later some time Google sent a message on the outage which was not expected.

The app dashboard for Gmail had the following message for users:
We’re aware of a problem with Gmail affecting a significant subset of users. The affected users are able to access Gmail, but are seeing error messages and/or other unexpected behavior.
CNET reported that according to web analytics firm GoSquared, traffic on the internet dropped around 40 percent during those five minutes and perhaps only highlights the reliance of internet users on the search giant.
